DanEdwards
Diversity Awareness Facilitator – The WorkPlace Group

Rick Hansen Foundation Speaking Ambassador

Dan Edwards is currently finishing his last year in the Business Marketing program at Lambton College, as well as working as a Rick Hansen Foundation Speaking Ambassador, and part time as a Diversity Awareness Facilitator with The WorkPlace Group. He’s definitely keeping himself busy.

Dan was born in London and raised in Sarnia. He graduated from St Christopher's Secondary School in 2006, where he played on several sports teams. In August 2006, at the age of 18, he was involved in a freak accident. While wrestling with a friend, Dan fell and was left paralyzed from the neck down. The last five years have been traumatizing, but also eye opening. Dan says, “Living as a C5-C6 quadriplegic, I've been victimized to not only something shocking but I've witnessed a great deal of compassion from this community”.

After going through several surgeries, hours of rehab and keeping true to his faith, Dan has grown to have a better outlook and understanding of others and the difficulties people overcome on a daily basis. Such a change in his life style has taught Dan to be appreciative of little things that generally go unnoticed. He demonstrates enthusiasm every day for his good fortune and is proud to be nearly finished his education. He hopes to work in Marketing, Promotions or Business, and knows he will utilize his passion for working with others. Dan is available to connect with business groups, not for profits and other community groups who are interested in learning how they can Diversify their WorkPlace and support the hiring of Persons Living with a Disability. Contact info@theworkplacegroup.ca for details.
